According to PM (Do you call him PM if Parliament is dissolved? Isn't he a Former PM?) Harper, has he stated in an election event in Quebec, "French is the founding language of this country." Well that is surely news to the Fathers of Confederation, some of whom spoke English!
It is also news to the myriad of First Nations peoples who were here before the French or the English, including, the Potawatomi who lived along the Gulf of St Lawrence as early as 1500 and who might have been the tribe that met the French when they landed .
It might also be news to the Vikings who settled in Newfoundland in 1000 AD, 500 years before the French.
